A business plan is not something that people should embark on lightly or without some knowledge of the process. And while you might think that writing a startup business plan is all about images and words, there are plenty of other things involved; it's always good to be aware of these before jumping in.

Top 7 Things To Know Before You Start Drop Shipping

In this blog we are going to be sharing our top 7 things you need to now before you start drop shipping in Australia.

Drop shipping is a fulfilment method in which the retailer does not keep goods in stock. Instead, when a retailer receives an order from a customer, they forward that order to either the manufacturer or a wholesaler, who then ships the items directly to the customer’s home.

In this blog post we will take you through 7 things you should know before starting your drop shipping journey. From what to sell and how much cash investment is needed, all of your questions will be answered.

1. Know what you are selling.

The first step to starting your drop shipping business is to know what you are going to sell. Of course if you are looking into drop shipping opportunities, the first thing that will come to your mind is e-commerce. However, if you plan on selling in other channels such as Shopify, eBay or Amazon, you may want to consider their rules...

Is Drop Shipping Legal In Australia?

In this blog we are covering Is drop shipping legal in Australia? The short answer is yes, but it does come with some restrictions. Unlike other business models, drop shipping stores can feel like an attractive option for new entrepreneurs and online marketers who want to get their feet wet without a heavy investment. However, there are some laws and restrictions that come with this model of eCommerce.

Drop shipping is a business model where the retailer does not have any inventory, and instead purchases products from a wholesaler or manufacturer on an as-needed basis with no upfront costs. It can be hard to find sellers that will sell drop shipped items because of how easy it can be for people to get away with dropping ship without telling you (often unintentionally).

Most importantly you'll need to make sure the products you offer can be legally sold in Australia and that you are not breaching any local or international laws. Australia's Consumer Law states goods...

Drop Shipping In Australia Without A Credit Card

Today, I'm going to be covering cashflow and how you can run your Australian drop shipping store without a credit card or cash up front. So, with that let's get started.

Okay, so business cash flow, drop shipping cash flow, it can be a bit of a balancing and for a lot of people especially if you don't want to pay via credit card to your suppliers upfront or with cash up front, which a lot of people don't have obviously if you are getting a ton of sales coming through.

So, what I do recommend so that you can literally start a store with nothing basically, is on your shipping and returns page you say you have it 10-day business day fulfillment window which gives you a lot of time for the payment processor to make sure that your payments come through they hit your account so you can pay your supplier and then they ship it out in time.

That way you don't need to use your credit card and you don't need to use any of your own cash you're literally...

How Long Does It Take To Run A Drop Shipping Store

OK I'm going to talk about a question we get a lot and that is how long does it take to run a drop shipping store, let's dive in.

So running and setting up are two completely different things, firstly I'll cover setting up really quickly, I'll give you a good idea of how long it took us to set up our first store.. Now look It only took us about three weeks to a month to actually set up that first store, we really ripped in and went for it this is from knowing literally nothing to getting up, running and advertising a completed store.

That being said it may take you a shorter and longer period of time based on your experience but I'll leave that aside that's just the set up.

A lot of the questions we get are what does it take or how much time does it take per day to run a successful drop shipping store... how much extra time am I going to have to put into this outside of my "normal hours"?

So to be honest this is going to vary big time depending on the...

5 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Dropship Apparel

I'm just going to state it up front: don't dropship apparel, okay? Let's take a look at why this is not a good idea.

Dropshipping apparel online isn't a good business model for several reasons. I'm not against selling apparel in general, and in fact, I personally have a clothing label that I've been working on for many years. If it's your passion, you should go for it, and be aware that it's a difficult thing to get right. I would not dropship apparel for profit, I would do it only for passion.

If you're just looking for a profitable business model, dropshipping apparel isn't likely to work out for you. There are a lot of issues that can and will arise, and dealing with them will eat into your profit margin and cause all kinds of headaches.

First, there's a very high return rate. When people buy clothing online they can't try it on, so they buy their usual sizes, but items listed as the same size often fit differently. So, if someone normally wears a large and they put your...

How To Dropship Profitably In Australia

Today we're going to be covering how to dropship profitably. There are so many different ways to dropship your products, and many of them work well, but I'm going to give you my top tips.

A lot of you already dropship through eBay or Amazon, and there are other platforms as well, like AliExpress. But for me, the best way to do it is to treat it like an actual real business. Find your own suppliers, build your own e-commerce site, advertise yourself via Google PLAs, AdWords Facebook. I know a lot of you do that with cheap products on AliExpress and other platforms, but I'm talking about running your business as if you had your own warehouse and factory and you're pumping out your own products directly.

So let's start at the beginning. I always use a platform called Shopify; I find it the easiest way to build a stunning site, no matter what you're selling. Next, it's important to have a niche. I don't really care what niche, but I really look for products that are between say 200 and...

Is It Too Late To Start Dropshipping in Australia?

Today I want to talk about whether or not it is too late to get started dropshipping right here in Australia.

The short answer: it's absolutely not too late! It is time to get started right now. Anybody that tells you it's too late, it's oversaturated, it's already been done, doesn't know what they're talking about. Unlike America, all the suppliers haven't caught on to dropshipping. This gives us a massive opportunity to reach out, call these suppliers, and be the only ones online selling certain products.

There aren't massive dropshipping platforms here. There are a couple, like dropship zone, color-block, or a couple of others. But a lot of the suppliers or distributors in Australia are not ready for dropshipping.

We have the chance to bring them around our way of thinking and get started with them. We can be the first to sell their products and brands online.

Amazon has only just kicked off in Australia. Think about that: one of the biggest companies in the entire world has...

The Truth About AliExpress & Facebook Ads Drop Shipping

Today I'm going to be talking about how dropshipping cheap AliExpress products with Facebook isn't really a real dropshipping business. Let me explain.

It is my belief that Aliexpress dropshipping with Facebook is just about selling one-off products, trying to find the angle, the niche, the product that's going to make you a million bucks. It's not a real business, at least in my opinion.

I know there are tons of people out there on the internet making big claims that they're making big bucks, and sure, it can be done. I'm not disputing that in any way, shape or form. You can treat it like a business but the thing with these products is that you're just always looking for the next big win.

You're not building an empire, you're not building a business up. You may be making a few bucks, but you're not building anything tangible or saleable. Let's take a look with an example of a brick-and-mortar business.

My brother and I used to run a direct sales and marketing company. We made...
